Job Title: Senior Process Safety Engineer

Location: LNG Plant – Bonny, Rivers
Tasks
- To Support Process safety development, implementation, and sustenance with respect to risk identification.
- Drive the implementation of associated controls and provide means to assess the effectiveness of these controls.
Main Accountabilities
- Support the development and implementation of Process Safety assurance and compliance.
- Provide Process Safety guidance and support which will ensure that hazards are properly managed.
- Support the implementation of Risk Management strategy whilst ensuring compliance with design and engineering standards with specific emphasis on DEM 1 and the Process Safety Basic Requirements (PSBR) and other relevant International Safety Codes to ensure that Process Safety risk is adequately managed, hence no Process Safety incident.
- Participate in the implementation of a 5-year rolling program of process technical safety reviews to cover all RAM 5A/B and high-risk process areas. This will assist in providing assurance that Plant design does not have any inherent Process Safety risk.
- Participate in all in-house process technical safety reviews (HAZOP, Pre-Start-up reviews, Fire Safety Reviews, S-RBI, IPF, bowtie), ensuring that there is no Process Safety Gap in Process Safety risk identification and eliminated or mitigated for.
- Ensure and maintain quality of the following critical process safety documentation: Process Safeguarding Memorandum (PSM), process safeguarding flow scheme (PSFS) which are process safety critical document required for the Operating facility with respect to design.
- Develop tools and processes to support the embedding of Process Safety culture and Process Safety as a way of work. This ensures that Asset leadership in Process safety is visible whilst supporting objectives and targets for process safety management of the Asset with clear expectation and accountabilities.
- Support the review of Process Safety risk to determine is managed to ALARP and identify actions to take if they are not. Support the implementation of these actions to provide assurance that the Plant is in a state of fitness.
- Support the Monitoring and reporting of Process safety leading and lagging indicators. Participate in the annual review of Process Safety risk in line with Management review to address specific process safety issues and reflect the effectiveness of the key controls/processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or other Engineering / Science disciplines with relevant experience at Second Class Lower Division (2.2) and above.
- Minimum of 5 years post-graduation work experience with process technology experience in the Oil and Gas industry or Asset Integrity/Reliability function or plant safety in plant operations.
- Technical Authority (TA-3 Ready) in Process Safety, Technical Safety, or other Process related discipline.
